We are unraveling the complexities of human biology to build better defenses against disease. Researchers are addressing issues related to age-related neurodegerative diseases, major respiratory diseases and pandemic preparedness. We are overcoming cancer risks through compassionate care, translational research and clinician training, and reducing social inequities by improving the health and well-being of at-risk populations.
Our centers are positioning the University of Arizona Health Sciences as a revolutionary leader for research and treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sleep apnea and other major respiratory diseases. Researchers are developing flexible solutions that can be implemented in communities worldwide to create a pandemic-free future for all. At the only National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Arizona, our goal is to alleviate the burden of cancer. We are improving the health and well-being of Latino people with Type 2 diabetes and using the brain’s complexity to drive discovery and create precision cures for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and ALS.
